Best Attire for Winter Firearm Training

Best Attire for Winter Firearm Training

Going on winter firearm training comes with its own set of benefits and experience. But most individuals seem to forget to bring the proper attire that makes sure that they are comfortable and safe while also being highly mobile.

So, to help with that, this blog will guide finding the best attire for your winter firearm training.

Layering is Key

Base Layer

Start by finding a moisture-wicking base layer that can also snuggly sit against your skin. This base layer can help you regulate your body temperature by absorbing the sweat from your body, allowing you to stay dry and warm. You find clothing made from materials like merino wool or synthetic fabrics, which are great for providing insulation without causing bulk.

Mid Layer

Now, add the thermal mid-layer for additional warmth. You can opt for clothing like fleece or insulated jackets since they are able to provide warmth without restricting your movement. Just make sure that this layer is breathable so that you don’t get overheated during your physical activity.

Outer Layer

And lastly, find an outer layer that will protect you against wind and moisture. An ideal selection would be a lightweight and waterproof jacket or a tactical vest. Look for options that also allow you to easily access your gear while also keeping you comfortable in the cold weather.

Choosing the Right Pants

While in winter firearm training, having comfortable and flexible pants is a key component. An excellent choice would be tactical pants since they provide multiple pockets–allowing the wearer to carry extra magazines and gear. Look for pants that are made from durable materials and allow flexibility. Also, try to avoid tight-fitting jeans that can restrict your movement when crouching.

Footwear Matters

Having the right footwear can also make all the difference since you will be standing on your feet for an extended period of time. Look for sturdy insulated boots that also provide ankle support and traction on different types of terrains. While it should go without saying, try to avoid using open-toed shoes and sandals – since you will be exposing your feet to hot brass and other hazards. Also, try to pair your booths with moisture-wicking socks, allowing you to keep your feet dry and warm during intensive training sessions.

Shirts and Upper Layers

For your upper body, look for long-sleeve shirts that are made from moisture-wicking materials to protect you from hot brass while also keeping you warm. Wearing a high collar or close-fitting neck can also aid in preventing brass from falling down your shirt, which can be quite uncomfortable and distracting.
